joyce
epstein (2005 colloquium speaker)
is director of the center on school, family, and community partnerships,
principal research scientist and co-director of the school, family,
and community partnership program of the center for research on
the education of students placed at risk (crespar), with a joint/part
time appointment of professor of sociology at johns hopkins university.
dr. epstein received her ph.d. in sociology from johns hopkins university.
she has over one hundred publications on the effects of school,
classroom, family, and peer environments on student learning and
development, with many focusing on school and family connections.
in all of her work, she is interested in the connections of research,
policy, and practice.
