Center of Excellence
Goals and Activities: Goal 2 - Activity 2
Activity
2: Action Research Training
The Center of
Excellence will provide training to selected teachers in the partner
districts and FMU faculty, as needed, to improve their reading,
use, and conduct of action research as well as their dissemination
of research results. Lorin W.
Anderson, a nationally-known educational researcher, will serve
as the Coordinator of Research
and Professional Development and provide the training. For teachers
in the partner districts, participation in the training will be
linked with course completion and re-certification credit. This
activity will take place during Years 1 and 2.
The Action Research
activity, led by Dr. Lorin Anderson,
a nationally-recognized educational researcher and scholar, will
enable two to three teachers from each Partner District to learn
about and then to implement an individually-designed action research
study in their classrooms. In this outstanding opportunity to work
closely with Dr. Anderson,
participants will focus their research upon the use of specific
classroom management strategies to more successfully meet the needs
of children of poverty that struggle in authoritarian and classroom
management designs.
