| fmu center of excellence goals and activities: goal 4 - activity 2 activity 2: work with sc state department of education toward state certification requirements. the center of excellence will work with appropriate representatives of the south carolina state department of education to ensure that the program, once developed, will lead to a new area of state certification. this may involve adding someone from the south carolina state department of education to the aforementioned task force. also, center staff will begin to explore with state department of education representatives the possibility of recognizing teaching children of poverty as a critical needs area. this activity will take place during years 3 and 4.
