  • annie e. casey foundation - a private charitable organization, dedicated to helping build better futures for disadvantaged children in the united states. the primary mission of the foundation is to foster public policies, human-service reforms, and community supports that more effectively meet the needs of today’s vulnerable children and families.
  • center on urban poverty and community development - the center on urban poverty and community development seeks to address the problems of persistent and concentrated urban poverty and is dedicated to understanding how social and economic changes affect low-income communities and their residents.
  • children’s defense fund - statistics on children across the u.s. the children’s defense fund site contains 2005 poverty guidelines. it also contains information about child welfare, poverty reduction techniques, and child advocacy.
  • education trust, the - the education trust provides advocacy that encourages schools, colleges, and whole communities to mount effective campaigns so that all their students will reach high levels of academic achievement. the website explains in detail many of the ways edtrust strives to raise student achievement, especially among minority and poor students.
  • georgia family connection partnership - georgia family connection partnership (gafcp) is a non-profit organization focused on improving conditions for children and families in poverty. gafcp works with the county collaboratives to develop strategic plans that set goals and measures/evaluates their improvement over time. their goals are focused on children being healthy, ready for school, and succeeding in school, as well as helping families be more stable and self-sufficient.

  • kentucky center for poverty research at the university of kentucky - the university of kentucky’s center on poverty research has a multidisciplinary approach to the causes, consequences, and correlates of poverty and inequality in the united states, with a special emphasis on the residents of the south. the website contains the research activities of the center, publications, a discussion paper series, and funding opportunities for uk graduate students and faculty as well as for poverty scholars from around the nation.

  • national center for children of poverty - the national center for children in poverty (nccp) is the nation’s leading public policy center dedicated to promoting the economic security, health, and well-being of america’s low-income families and children. nccp uses research to inform policy and practice with the goal of ensuring positive outcomes for the next generation with visions of family economic security, strong, nurturing families and healthy child development. the nccp promotes family-oriented solutions at both the state and national levels.
  • national council on family relations - the ncfr provides an educational forum for family researchers, educators, and practitioners to share in the development and distribution of knowledge about families and family relationships, establish professional standards, and work to promote family well-being.
  • population research institute - penn state's center on population health and aging (cpha) was founded in 2004 by a p30 grant from the national institute on aging. the mission of the cpha is to provide a synergistic research environment supporting the development of innovative interdisciplinary research dealing with the challenges of a growing and increasingly diverse older population with core activities such as an annual competition to support faculty pilot research, sponsoring a seminar series, focal research networks, technical workshops and scientific conferences, and providing technical support for population research.
