Both parents and teachers believe it is important for children to be kind, but they define kindness in different ways, according to a recent survey of 2,000 parents and 500 teachers from the Sesame Workshop, the educational nonprofit behind Sesame Street. Parents tended to choose polite manners as being more important in showing kindness, whereas teachers placed a higher value on empathy.
