Students need to be pushed beyond reading comprehension exercises to learn how to analyze and critique text, writes Rebecca Alber, an instructor at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education. In this blog post, Alber describes strategies to accomplish this, such as having students question the motives of the author or rewriting information from a different perspective.
