Some students in a Washington state district are taking an early morning course — called “zero-hour” classes — that allows room in their schedules for more electives or college-preparatory classes during standard school hours. Some experts and educators say they are concerned that these additional classes could lead to excessive stress and cut into the amount of sleep teenage students need.
