Teachers in New Mexico are evaluated more harshly than are teachers in other states, according to a 24-state study by Matthew Kraft, a Brown University assistant professor of education and economics. Brown attributes the findings to New Mexico’s emphasis on students’ test scores in teacher evaluations, setting the state far from other evaluated states.
