High-school teacher Hyam Elsaharty, who recently was honored by Chicago Public Schools for excellence in social and emotional learning, shares approaches she uses in her classroom and at schools in other countries where she has visited. Elsaharty, who was a fellow with Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms, says SEL can boost students’ confidence, resilience and relationships beyond school.
