Improving access to higher education for historically underrepresented students should be a top priority for Congress as it weighs reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, says Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League. In a letter to Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., Morial urged lawmakers to find ways to reduce the debt burden, especially for low-income students.
