Schools and lawmakers in Pennsylvania should take steps to introduce trauma-informed education in schools, according to a report from the nonprofit Research for Action. The study identifies Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts and Wisconsin as leaders in trauma-informed education, and highlights some successful efforts already underway in Pennsylvania, such as in Pottstown, where Superintendent Stephen Rodriguez says educators identify students’ emotions and support them in positive ways.
