The majority of teachers said parents need to do more to support students’ reading, according to an online survey of 1,000 parents and 1,000 teachers by the education-technology company Age of Learning. Some parents said that cost was a barrier, so the report suggests that parents could use low- or no-cost solutions such as creating word walls at home, taking their children to a public library or subscribing to a digital library.
