The San Francisco Unified School District has launched a 10-week program that works with preschool-age children to reduce their chances of receiving an “emotional disturbance” special-education designation. The students, ages 3 1/2 to 5, learn how to process and regulate their emotions and receive one-on-one interventions that emphasize agency and predictability.
