George Washington High School in Denver is seeking to boost its integration efforts by placing all freshmen in honors English starting next year. Enrollment in advanced classes at the school is sharply tilted toward white students, who make up 35% of the student body, and administrators want to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds have equal access to educational opportunities.
