Ten grocery stores in Philadelphia are piloting a program aimed at encouraging conversation among children and their parents based on literacy and math tasks. The Talk it Up program is funded through a $190,000 grant from the William Penn Foundation and builds on research about the beneficial effects of such interactions on early learning.
