Study of the novel “The Outsiders” in Missouri English teacher Julie Ferguson’s classroom includes an in-depth project on criminal investigations and trials. The local police department assisted in recreating a crime scene described in the book, so Ferguson’s junior-high-schoolers could examine “evidence” for use later in a mock trial.
