Workshops that feature nationally-recognized speakers are offered each Fall for teachers, teacher candidates, school leaders, researchers, community partners, and other stakeholders. The 2017 Fall Workshop will feature Myron Dueck, vice-principal, teacher, and author in SD 67 in British Columbia, Canada. His best-selling book, Grading Smarter, Not Harder – Assessment Strategies that Motivate Kids and Help Them Learn, was released by ASCD in July 2014. The 2018 Consortium will be held in Columbia, SC, and will feature Jason T. Downer, a senior research scientist at the University of Virginia's Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning in Charlottesville. Summer Institute Poverty Simulation June 18

A Pre-Conference Poverty Simulation is scheduled for Tuesday,  June 18. This half-day event is designed to promote greater awareness, increase understanding, and inspire local change.  Attendees role-play four 15-minute 'weeks' in poverty and the stressors faced by many under-resourced families.
