Students of Kansas high-school English teacher Cortney Kinyon gather into groups to dissect sentences by writing the parts of speech on desks with colorful dry-erase markers. Besides being a visual way to work on grammar, the activity also helps to develop students’ speaking skills and academic vocabulary, she said.
