School closures and the abrupt end to the school year in some communities have been particularly difficult for high-school seniors, who are mourning the loss of traditional events, such as prom and in-person graduation celebrations. Lynn Bufka of the American Psychological Association says to support teens and young adults, recognize their feelings and encourage them to stay connected.
